About Singapore

Located just one degree north of the equator, Singapore has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 25 to 34 degrees Celsius (77 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit) all year long.  Although most days are sunny, Singapore does experience the occasional downpour, so have an umbrella handy!

Dress Code

The dress code for the convention and exhibition is business casual.  For special events such as the Opening Ceremony, Welcome Lunch and Gala Dinner, we request that delegates be dressed in business attire.

While English is the main language used for business and education throughout the city-state, Singapore actually has four official languages – Malay, Mandarin, Tamil and English – with Malay being Singapore’s national language.

The local currency is the Singapore dollar (S$).

Money changing services are readily available at Singapore Changi Airport, and at many shopping centres and hotels in the city.

You may also choose to withdraw money using major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) from any automated teller machines (ATMs), which can be easily found throughout the city.

The international dialling code is +(65).

With an international roaming service, you can dial local 8-digit phone numbers without adding +(65).

Goods & Services Tax

Goods & Services Tax (GST) in Singapore is 7%.

Spend at least S$100 a day from selected retailers to qualify for refunds. Enjoy tax-free shopping at retailers that offer the Tax Refund service.

At other retailers, ask for GST Refund Forms and retain your receipts to get your refund processed at the airport right before you fly out of Singapore. Tax refunds do not apply if you are leaving by land or sea.
